The East Uusimaa District Court has begun hearings for a homicide case stemming from an incident in Tikkurila, Vantaa, during the summer. A man is accused of murdering his wife. According to the prosecutor, the man fatally stabbed the woman in their shared home in Tikkurila on June 19. At the time of the incident, the couple’s three minor children were also present in the residence.

The prosecutor alleges that the man was jealous because the woman had been communicating with another man. It is claimed that he had long controlled her, been violent towards her, and monitored her phone using surveillance software.

While the man denies the murder charge, he acknowledges that he was responsible for the woman’s death, asserting that he committed manslaughter instead. The couple is originally from South Asia. The accused confessed during the preliminary investigation to having caused the woman’s death, which occurred despite first aid being administered at the scene.
