Ilkka Sasi forms new Right-wing Tampere City Council Group in Finland
Ilkka Sasi, former deputy mayor of Tampere, has established a new city council group called the Right-wing Tampere City Council Group. In an official statement, Sasi emphasized that the group’s aim is to promote the principles of good governance within Tampere’s municipal politics. A member of the National Coalition Party since 2002, Sasi has served as a city councilor in Tampere since 2009.
Sasi was removed from his position as deputy mayor and expelled from the coalition group in mid-September due to a loss of trust from the council. Earlier this year, he faced allegations related to sexual harassment and alcohol offenses, which contributed to the council’s decision to expel him from both the group and his role. In late August, it was revealed that no criminal charges would be brought against Sasi regarding the allegations.
