Finnish teen murder suspect captured on CCTV before and after crime, admits to inflicting injuries on 15-year-old girl
An 18-year-old male, suspected of murdering a 15-year-old girl in May in Valkeakoski, Finland, was recorded on CCTV before and after the alleged crime. The surveillance footage showed the teenager walking ahead with the man following her. After the murder, the man was again captured on the same CCTV camera, this time alone. This new piece of evidence supports the suspect’s guilt in the crime.
The suspect has also admitted to inflicting injuries on the victim. However, it remains unclear if he has admitted to deliberate homicide. Two months prior to the incident, the man had posted on an online forum about his fantasy to strangle a woman to death.
In addition to murder, the man is also suspected of the severe rape of a child that occurred around the same time. The police have obtained a DNA sample which indicates that the suspected killer had been in “close contact” with the victim.
The motive for the man’s actions seems “apparent”, according to the police, but no further details have been revealed. The victim, who was attending the ninth grade, was found murdered in a wooded area near a footpath between Naakan and Laiskan city districts in the early hours of Saturday, May 25th.
The police have confirmed that the murder occurred almost exactly where the girl was found. The suspect is still in custody and charges must be brought against him by September 19th.
