A tragic accident on Sunday in Mäntsälä has resulted in the death of a six-year-old boy, as reported by Helsingin Sanomat. The incident occurred in the family’s yard, where the children climbed onto construction scaffolding, causing it to collapse. A five-year-old sibling sustained serious injuries and was taken to the hospital, while the older child was revived on-site but succumbed to their injuries.

Local resident Jenni Suutarinen, accompanied by her children, brought candles to Kenkäkalliontie in remembrance of the victims. She described the emotional impact of hearing a medical helicopter overhead, stating, “It touches you. When you have small children yourself, it feels terrible.”

The police received reports of the accident around noon on Sunday, which happened in an area lined with single-family homes and industrial buildings. Investigations into the cause of death have been initiated, but authorities currently do not suspect any foul play.

Mäntsälä’s local congregation announced on Facebook that the church will be open for quiet reflection from 6 PM to 8 PM on Monday, with staff present for those wishing to talk.
