Elisa partnership with S Group to end, affecting customer bonuses in Finland
Starting next year, customers will no longer be able to earn bonuses on Elisa subscriptions through the S Group. This bonus partnership will end on December 31. Currently, bonuses can only be accrued from specific 5G phone plans and internet subscriptions with Elisa. The registration for new bonus agreements concluded at the beginning of this year.
For customers, losing this bonus could translate to a loss of tens of euros annually, depending on the bonus thresholds and the volume of qualifying purchases.
To illustrate the impact on a typical family of four—two adults and two children—all of whom have Elisa phone subscriptions, plus an additional Elisa internet subscription—the total monthly bill could be around €160. Assuming they also have other eligible purchases totaling €340, the family’s total spend would be €500 per month, qualifying them for a three percent bonus, according to the S Group’s bonus table.
Under this scenario, with a monthly payment of €160, the family could earn a bonus of €4.80 monthly or €57.60 annually. This calculation uses a bonus table applicable to all cooperatives except for Osuuskauppa KPO and Koillismaan Osuuskauppa and excludes any fuel bonuses.
Both S Group and Elisa have declined to comment on which party chose to end the partnership, citing confidentiality in their contractual relationships. Elisa’s business director noted that the collaboration, which has been ongoing for over a decade, has become less significant for the company.
Furthermore, Heini Dahlström from S Group mentioned that long-term partnerships are crucial, and the decision to end the bonus collaboration was made as part of a regular review of partnerships.
