Danish company Danfoss Editron is set to sign a collaboration agreement with the city of Lappeenranta for the establishment of a new factory in the area. This agreement outlines plans for the design and construction of a production and office building in Lappeenranta. Danfoss Editron specializes in developing and manufacturing electric powertrain systems for heavy vehicles, machinery, and maritime applications.
According to Lappeenranta’s Mayor Tuomo Sallinen, the new facility is expected to create approximately 300 jobs in the city. The proposed site for the factory is a city-owned plot of land adjacent to Lappeenranta Airport, where Danfoss Editron would become the tenant.
The collaboration agreement will remain in effect until mid-March next year, after which the goal is to establish a formal construction and lease agreement. The aim is for construction work to commence as soon as possible in 2025.
Danfoss Editron has its roots in Lappeenranta, having originated from Visedo Oy, which was established in 2009 and acquired by the Danfoss Group in 2017. As of March this year, Danfoss employed around 150 people in Lappeenranta and is actively seeking new employees for product development. The city and the company have been in discussions for this agreement for the past two and a half years.
