The Danish Security and Intelligence Service (PET) is closely monitoring yesterday’s explosions near the Israeli embassy in Denmark. They are also keeping an eye on similar incidents that have occurred in Sweden. In a statement, PET noted that they have observed young individuals from Sweden traveling to Denmark to engage in criminal activities within gang environments, allegedly hired for these tasks.

Additionally, Swedish authorities have assessed that a specific incident targeting the Israeli embassy in Stockholm, carried out by young criminals in Sweden, has links to Iran. This concern prompts PET to remain vigilant regarding the possibility of similar actions in Denmark.

“Of course, this is a situation PET is watching closely,” the statement read. “If a state actor is prompting young criminals to target Jewish sites in our neighboring country, we can be understandably worried about the potential for such actions in Denmark as well.”

As of now, the Copenhagen Police have not confirmed whether the two explosions in Hellerup on Wednesday were aimed at the Israeli embassy, although it is a motive under investigation. PET is also attentive to this line of inquiry.

PET emphasized the seriousness of the situation, stating, “It is extremely serious if a foreign embassy is targeted in an attack, and this case is receiving considerable attention from PET.” They added that they are in close communication with various international partners regarding this incident and other similar cases that may involve the same type of perpetrators and methods. Furthermore, PET is maintaining a dialogue with the Israeli embassy concerning pertinent security issues.
