Labour agreements and released killer lead Spursmál agenda

Labour agreements, Iceland’s European Union debate and the release of a convicted killer will be discussed on mbl.is’s Spursmál programme on Friday, mbl.is reports.

With a review of collective agreements in the private sector approaching, the programme will examine what the labour movement and employers intend to do. Inflation is currently well above the level agreed in 2024.

Þorsteinn Víglundsson, chairman of the Federation of Industries, and Vilhjálmur Birgisson, chairman of the Federation of General and Special Workers, will discuss the situation.

They will also be asked about their positions on the European Union. Vilhjálmur has spoken firmly against accession talks, while Þorsteinn is a former MP and minister for Viðreisn.

Óskar Magnússon, a lawyer, author and farmer at Sámstaðabakki in Fljótshlíð, and Sigríður Á. Andersen, an MP for the Centre Party and a former justice minister, will also appear on the programme.

The discussion will include the latest developments involving the crew of the Bandero, which recently caused trouble in Icelandic jurisdiction. The programme will also examine how Angjelin Sterkaj, referred to as the “executioner”, came to be released from an Icelandic prison and sent to his home country, Albania, after killing a man in a brutal attack in Rauðagerði in 2021.
