Faroe Islands to gain more independence in foreign affairs, says Prime Minister Mette Fredriksen in Danish Parliament

The Faroe Islands are to have a more independent voice in foreign affairs. This statement was made by Prime Minister Mette Fredriksen during her inaugural speech in the Danish Parliament (Folketing) today, marking the beginning of a new parliamentary year.
Attendees at the event included Aksel V. Johannesen, the Prime Minister of the Faroe Islands, and Bjørt Samuelsen, the Speaker of the Løgting (Parliament of the Faroe Islands).
The day commenced with a church service at the Christiansborg Palace Church at nine in the morning, prior to the formal opening of the Parliament session.
Discussions regarding the Prime Minister’s speech will take place on Thursday.
