Major security exercise to commence in Olkiluoto, Finland

A major security exercise is set to begin on Tuesday in Olkiluoto, Finland. This three-day exercise will involve participants from various organizations, including the Police of Southwestern Finland, Teollisuuden Voima, the Border Guard, the Helsinki Police Department, the Satakunta Welfare Area, and the Radiation and Nuclear Safety Authority.

The primary aim of the drill is to ensure the effectiveness of security arrangements and promote seamless cooperation among participants during the planned joint operation. On Wednesday, there will also be activities potentially taking place at the Port of Rauma and in surrounding waters near Olkiluoto. However, the exercise will not be visible to the public or have any impact outside the facility area.

The head of the exercise, Superintendent Joni Saarimäki from the Police of Southwestern Finland, stated that the goal is to ensure the efficient operation of the command system and successfully execute a challenging joint operation among the involved parties.
