Storm Boelo is moving into Sweden on Sunday, bringing strong winds and heavy rain, SVT reports. The Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute, SMHI, has issued several yellow warnings, with gusts exceeding 20 metres per second and up to 30 millimetres of rain expected in some places.

The warnings mainly cover coastal areas in southwestern Sweden and the east coast as far north as Västernorrland County. SMHI says the storm’s unusual wind direction could lead to many fallen trees. It advises people to secure loose outdoor items such as trampolines and garden furniture.

Train services have been suspended on several routes. The Kristianstad to Karlskrona line was closed from 3 a.m. on Sunday, with reopening estimated at 5 a.m. The Karlskrona to Emmaboda line was closed from 3 a.m., with reopening estimated at 3 p.m. The Håkantorp to Gårdsjö line was closed from midnight, with reopening estimated for noon on Monday. The Kil to Torsby line was closed from 6 a.m. on Sunday, with reopening estimated at 4 p.m.

Ferry services to and from Gotland are also affected. Several Sunday sailings are expected to be delayed, and disruptions may continue on Monday and Tuesday. Some departures have been moved by as much as 12 hours. Håkan Johansson, chief executive of Destination Gotland, said services were expected to return to normal on Wednesday. Extra ferries have been added because a major motorcycle race is taking place on Gotland, but those sailings are also affected.

Västtrafik has warned of delays and cancellations on public transport, advising passengers to check its app for updates. The disruption is expected to continue until 6 p.m. on Monday. The Swedish Transport Administration has urged motorists to drive carefully and adjust their driving to the weather.
