Finnish police are wrapping up an investigation into a traffic accident that occurred in Juva in May. A 16-year-old boy was driving a one-person tractor registered as an agricultural ATV (All-Terrain Vehicle). According to police, the ATV driver crashed into a ditch at high speed after a long straight stretch.

In addition to the driver, there were two younger individuals onboard the ATV. None of the passengers were wearing helmets according to police reports.

The driver and one of the passengers sustained serious injuries in the accident. One of the injured is still hospitalized and has not been able to provide a statement for the preliminary investigation.

The investigation revealed that the ATV had been tampered with to reach a speed of approximately 100 kilometers per hour. The structural permitted speed of the vehicle is 40 kilometers per hour.

Police have often come across similarly modified vehicles, particularly during summer. They remind that vehicles must be inspected and approved to correspond to the modified power also in terms of their structures.

The case has been investigated under the following criminal charges: drunk driving, gross endangerment of traffic safety, causing serious injury, driving a vehicle without a right, and driving license violation.
