A safety provision that was established before the construction began is intended for potential incidents related to the tunnel project, which have already occurred, prompting Landsverk to file a claim.
“Some overruns have led us to decide to pursue legal action,” states Sigurð Ólason Vang, a department manager at Landsverk’s project department.
This week, Dennis Holm, the Minister of Transport, presented a proposal to the Parliament to increase funding for the Fámjin Tunnel. He is requesting an additional 33 million Danish kroner for the tunnel, which is now estimated to cost 285 million kroner.
The Fámjin Tunnel will span 1.2 kilometers, with an additional kilometer of road to be constructed on the Ørðavík side and around 400 meters of road on the Fámjin side.
