Following a tragic accident, an investigation has concluded that there are no safety issues at the Fredericia Swimming Pool. Last Sunday, a 21-year-old man fell from a five-meter diving board, landing on the concrete floor instead of in the pool. He succumbed to his injuries on Thursday night.

In light of the incident, the local authority responsible for the pool conducted a review of the safety measures surrounding the diving platform. A consulting firm was brought in to assess the situation throughout the week. Kasper Findahl, the head of culture and sports for Fredericia Municipality, stated that the safety measures are compliant with building regulations.

Peder Tind, the chairman of the municipality’s culture and sports committee, echoed this sentiment, noting that the investigation concluded there were no additional safety concerns to address. The family of the deceased expressed their gratitude for the efforts of the lifeguards and the assistance provided during the emergency.

Despite the initial findings, measures to enhance safety may still be implemented. The swimming pool closed immediately after the incident but has since reopened, albeit without access to the five-meter diving platform, which will remain closed until a further assessment is completed next week.

The municipality aims to ensure complete safety, with Findahl emphasizing their commitment to thoroughness even with existing compliance. Following the accident, crisis counseling has been offered to both visitors and staff at the pool, with six individuals accepting the help. The family of the young man has announced plans for an open memorial service in connection with his funeral.
