Worker dies in workplace accident at Metso construction site in Tampere

A worker tragically lost their life this week in a workplace accident in Tampere, Finland. The incident occurred on the construction site of Metso’s large technology center in Lahdesjärvi on Wednesday, involving an employee from a subcontractor of the project management contractor.

Pasi Vuorinen, factory manager at Metso Finland, expressed the company’s deep shock at the event, stating, “We are deeply shaken by what has happened.” An official investigation into the incident is currently underway, with responsibility for communication resting with local police, according to Metso.

In related developments, Metso plans to relocate its business unit focused on stone crushing from its current site in Hatanpää to the new technology center named Lokomotion, being constructed in Lahdesjärvi. This technology center is anticipated to become a significant workplace, employing around 900 individuals.
