The food company Raisio has assessed that production will not be interrupted following a fire at its facility. The fire broke out early Wednesday morning at the Raisio mill in Nokia, which handles all of the company’s oat and rye milling operations. Raisio is well-known for its Elovena oat products.

The fire started in a silo building, reportedly due to an electric motor that ignited a nearby pile of dust. According to Raisio, this was not flour but rather dust that had accumulated during maintenance work on the grain storage. “The dust removal fan’s motor caused the layer of dust on the floor to ignite,” said Communications Manager Anna-Mari Roine.

The fire brigade managed to extinguish the smoldering dust without utilizing large amounts of water. “The storage area where the fire occurred is being cleaned, but there is nothing to empty out. Cleaning efforts are already underway,” Roine mentioned.

Fortunately, there were no injuries reported in the incident. The company maintains that normal operations will resume soon, ensuring minimal disruption to their production schedule.
