Thirteen individuals have been exposed to tuberculosis in Rauma, as reported by the Satakunta welfare region. Current information indicates that exposure to others has been minimal, and the situation is not expected to pose a significant risk of transmission to anyone other than those directly exposed.

According to information received by the Satakunta infectious disease authorities, an individual suffering from contagious and multidrug-resistant pulmonary tuberculosis worked in the Seaside Industry Park maritime industrial area between July 1 and August 14.

All identified individuals exposed will be notified personally and directed to medical examinations. Authorities have initiated an investigation into the contacts related to this case.

Last year, Finland reported approximately 180 tuberculosis cases, with 112 being pulmonary tuberculosis. This figure has been on a declining trend. Tuberculosis is rare in Satakunta, with only two cases reported last year and one case recorded earlier this year. In the past, there have been only two instances of drug-resistant tuberculosis in the region.
