Ähtäri City Council to consider temporary committee for Finns Party members dismissal

The Ähtäri City Council made a decision during its meeting on Monday to consider the establishment of a temporary committee later that day. This committee will be tasked with preparing the dismissal of two members from the Finns Party, Juha Nortunen and Jarkko Salo. The Council addressed this matter as an urgent item outside of the previously published agenda.

Twenty council members voted in favor of discussing the issue, while five were against, and one abstained. Juha Nortunen is a member of the city board, and Jarkko Salo serves as the vice-chair of the audit committee. Two weeks ago, the city board suggested that Nortunen and Salo resign from their positions voluntarily. The two officials have deemed this request unfounded, asserting that it is a misunderstanding.

Nortunen and Salo also deny acting intentionally against established decisions, claiming that the underlying issue involves a dispute over the right to use a specific name.
