The Pirkanmaa District Court has sentenced Tenho Kari Johannes Lindberg, born in 1997, to four years in prison for attempted murder. The incident occurred at Valkeakoski Market Square in the autumn of 2020. According to the court, Lindberg stabbed the victim in the back with a knife after an evening at a restaurant.

Both Lindberg and the victim had spent the night at the same restaurant, where conflicts arose between the two groups over a woman in the victim’s party. Restaurant staff had to intervene multiple times during the evening, ultimately separating the groups within the venue. After closing, they were allowed to leave at different times.

Witnesses described Lindberg’s behavior as confused and aggressive, with one recalling that he had threatened to kill someone while exiting the restaurant. The stabbing took place outside after the establishment closed. In addition to the stabbing, Lindberg struck the victim in the head with his fist and threw a bottle at him. Following the punch, the victim fell to the ground, at which point Lindberg kicked him in the head.

As a result of the stabbing, the victim sustained a broken spinal cord and suffered dental injuries. In addition to the prison sentence, the court ordered Lindberg to pay the victim over €37,000 in damages plus interest. Lindberg has appealed the ruling, and the sentence is not yet final.
