Finnair reported that the police were called to respond to a threat directed at one of its flights to Geneva. Approximately 90 passengers were onboard the aircraft, which landed safely at Helsinki-Vantaa Airport around 14:50 local time on Monday.
Jenni Kiiski, Finnair’s communications manager, declined to provide further details regarding the specifics of the threat. However, she emphasized that the majority of threats against aviation are found to be baseless.
“We take every threat very seriously, as flight safety is always our top priority. We have clear processes in place that we follow,” Kiiski stated.
The first report of the threat against Finnair’s flight came from Verkkouutiset, which indicated that it might be related to a bomb threat.
