Students at Commercial School of Iceland wear pink to honor Bryndís Klara Birgisdóttir after tragic event
Students and staff at the Commercial School of Iceland donned pink attire today to honor the memory of Bryndís Klara Birgisdóttir, who tragically lost her life after a 16-year-old attacked her and her friends with a knife during Cultural Night. Bryndís Klara was a student at the school.
Kári Einarsson, president of the student association, mentioned that the idea to wear pink emerged during a memorial event held yesterday for Bryndís Klara, where her friends came dressed in the color, which was her favorite. Following this, the student association decided to send an email to all teachers and students, encouraging them to wear pink today as a show of solidarity.
Kári remarked that the students at the Commercial School are supporting each other during these trying times. He described the atmosphere as heavy yet beautiful, noting that everyone is demonstrating a great understanding for one another. He believes it is vital that Bryndís Klara’s passing prompts greater unity against knife crime and violence in society.
According to Kári, it is essential to keep her spirit alive and to convey the message that such violence does not belong in their community. He emphasized the necessity of cooperation and increasing awareness about these issues, alongside enhancing police visibility and making the most out of the situation as best as possible.
