The status of electricity supply at Helsinki Hall remains uncertain, though power is still operational for now. Last week, reports indicated that the hall’s electricity distribution was at risk due to unpaid bills. The electricity contract is expected to terminate possibly today.

Markus Lehtonen, CEO of Helen Electricity Network, stated via email that there have been no updates regarding the situation at the hall. He mentioned that they cannot disclose information about individual clients’ circumstances and did not comment on the potential risks associated with a power cut. Lehtonen emphasized that property owners bear responsibility for their own premises.

He added that cooperation with emergency services will be established if necessary, with authorities evaluating whether it’s safe to discontinue electricity supply.

The Finnish Ice Hockey Association’s office, located next to Helsinki Hall, confirmed that as of approximately 10 AM, there had been no power disruption. Communications Director Henna Malmberg noted that they are unaware of when power might be cut and have not received specific instructions or warnings. Employees may work remotely, and the association is arranging alternative facilities.

Furthermore, the hall’s management has requested assistance from the association in settling the outstanding energy bill, but Malmberg did not comment on their response to this request. Previously, the hall’s CEO, Kai Paananen, warned that without electronic supervision, ammonia tanks in the arena could potentially cause an explosion. However, reports suggest that these tanks were emptied on Friday. The situation also poses risks related to mold growth on spectator seating, according to Helsinki Sanomat.
