Man arrested for homicide in Ojakkala, Vihti

A man suspected of homicide in Ojakkala, Vihti, has been taken into custody by the Western Uusimaa District Court. The 27-year-old man has been arrested on serious grounds in connection with a murder and attempted murder. The deadline for filing charges is set for December 4, 2024.

Police suspect that the accused inflicted violence upon two adults, one of whom died at the scene, while the other sustained severe injuries requiring hospitalization. According to authorities, the suspect and the victims are related. Reports indicate that the deceased victim was the suspect’s father, emeritus professor Raimo Kantola, and the injured individual is his wife. This information has also been confirmed by other news outlets.

Kantola was a former professor at the Technical University and Aalto University. Reports from Yle confirm that Kantola passed away on August 26, 2024, aligning with the timeline of the alleged homicide.
