Railway worker dies after being struck by train in Tikkurila, Vantaa

A railway worker has died after being struck by a train while working on the tracks in Tikkurila, Vantaa. The tragic accident occurred during the night between Thursday and Friday. The company, GRK, was engaged in a railway electrification and infrastructure project in Tikkurila at the time of the incident.

GRK has communicated with authorities regarding the accident and is assisting in the investigation. The company is also conducting its own inquiry into the circumstances leading to the accident to ensure the integrity of its operational procedures going forward. Timo Pinomäki, the group’s risk management director, extended his condolences to the victim’s family, loved ones, and all colleagues who worked with the deceased.

“As a company, we must always do everything we can to ensure that everyone has the opportunity for a safe working environment. Safety is an issue we do not want to compromise under any circumstances,” Pinomäki stated in a press release.

Additionally, GRK is providing crisis support to both the employees involved in the project and its wider staff following this distressing event.
