Finnish government proposes Rear Admiral Markku Hassinen as head of Border Guard

The Finnish government has proposed to the President that Rear Admiral Markku Hassinen be appointed as the head of the Border Guard. This appointment is set to begin at the start of 2025 and will last until November 30, 2029. Hassinen has been serving in the Border Guard since 1987 and is currently working as the deputy head. The current head, Lieutenant General Pasi Kostamovaara, will be retiring.
