Brother urges deletion of video after Roskilde stabbing kills 16-year-old

Ibrahim Hussein, the older brother of a 16-year-old boy who died after being stabbed in Roskilde, has urged people to delete videos of the attack, DR reports.

The boy was among young people gathered at Folkeparken in Roskilde on Friday for what was meant to be a celebratory start to their upper-secondary school years. A peer allegedly stabbed him several times in the chest.

“I still believe he is alive and that I will see him in an hour, tomorrow or in a month. I cannot believe he is no longer here,” Ibrahim Hussein said.

A suspected 16-year-old has been remanded in custody and charged with homicide.

“There was blood everywhere”

Hussein said he and his younger brother were very close. They shared clothes and storage drawers, and had shared a room while Hussein was living at home.

Hussein had just visited his parents at their childhood home when he received calls from unknown numbers. He did not answer because he was driving, but after several missed calls and hearing emergency vehicles, he realised that something was wrong.

He pulled over and answered a call from his younger brother’s friend.

“He was unable to speak. He just said there was blood everywhere and that I had to come to Folkeparken immediately,” Hussein said.

When he arrived at the park, he saw flashing ambulance lights and a helicopter. He tried to reach his brother, who was lying on the ground, but police stopped him.

“I came running, and the police grabbed me. They said I could not go over there because it did not look good,” he said.

Police warn against sharing footage

Videos of the stabbing circulated on social media on Saturday, according to police. Officers urged young people to stop sharing the footage, saying that doing so is a criminal offence.

Hussein said the warning could not be repeated strongly enough. He appealed to anyone who filmed the incident to delete the video immediately.

“I do not understand how anyone can allow themselves to take out their phone and film. I really hope that those who filmed it feel guilty about this and do not send it on. I hope they delete the video immediately, because it is outrageous,” he said.
