Silence from Karianne Tung prompts discussions within Røros Labour Party over potential candidacy for Parliament
Oscar Tørres Lindstad, the membership responsible for Røros Labour Party, commented on the silence from Karianne Tung regarding her potential candidacy for Parliament. He expressed disappointment, as he had encouraged her to consider running again. Local party members are now deliberating whom they prefer from Labour to represent them in Parliament, and many had previously voiced support for Tung.
In the initial feedback round, 20 out of 42 local branches expressed a desire for Tung to be on the Parliamentary list. However, uncertainty remains, as Tung has not confirmed her intentions to return. Lindstad noted that while having clarity from Tung would be beneficial, her position as a current minister makes her a logical candidate.
Meanwhile, Trond Giske was selected as the preferred candidate by the Trondheim Labour Party, receiving 104 votes compared to Tung’s 68 votes. Giske’s re-emergence has sparked discussions, with commentators noting that constituents seem to accept his comeback.
The selection process for the final candidate list for Sør-Trøndelag will begin soon, with the nominating committee set to draft a proposal. Roar Aas, head of the nominating committee, emphasized the importance of clarity from politicians who have yet to declare their intentions. The goal is to create a candidate list that generates enthusiasm in local branches, ensuring broad support within the party.
