Sámi Parliament to hold organizational meeting in Inari on September 23

The Sámi Parliament has announced that it will hold its organizational meeting on September 23. The meeting may continue the following day if necessary.
During this meeting, taking place in Inari at Sajok, the Sámi Parliament will elect a chairperson and two vice-chairpersons from among its members. They will also form a board, expert committees, and other entities, and discuss the operational program for the Sámi Parliament for the 2024–2027 term.
According to the Sámi Parliament’s rules of procedure, the person who has served the longest as a member will convene the first meeting. This time, that individual is Anne Nuorgam.
The Sámi Parliament’s sessions represent its highest decision-making authority and convene 4 to 5 times a year. The recent elections for the Sámi Parliament took place over the summer.
