A lengthy list of deficiencies was discovered on a foreign delivery van with a trailer that was stopped outside Trondheim last night. Control officials from the Norwegian Public Roads Administration identified several critical issues:
– Dangerous rust on brake lines. – A crack in the windshield. – The vehicle was overloaded. – The particulate filter had been removed. – Exhaust pipe was welded shut. – Significant leakage from the front shock absorbers. – Poor brakes at the rear. – Excessive play in the outer steering joints. – Loose tie rods on the rear leaf springs. – Major oil and diesel leaks that pose environmental risks. – Lack of insurance. – The vehicle was prohibited from use due to missing EU inspection. – The trailer had no rear lights at all. – The vehicle lacked a tachograph, which is required for transport vehicles. – The company did not possess a valid operating license.
The vehicle has been deregistered. “It certainly does not have the same characteristics as a new vehicle,” stated senior inspector Annette Negaard from the Norwegian Public Roads Administration, who participated in the inspection of around eight vehicles last night.
The problematic van had been stopped earlier in the week, and upon further inspection in the garage, more technical deficiencies were uncovered. “It’s not often we find so many issues on the same vehicle,” Negaard remarked.
