Young man dies in tragic skydiving accident at Oppdal gathering
A man in his 20s tragically lost his life in a skydiving accident over the weekend. The incident occurred during a gathering for skydivers in Oppdal. Numerous eyewitnesses, both on the ground and in the air, witnessed the fatal event.
According to Berge Schwebs Bjørlo, the main instructor of the NTNU Skydiving Club, the deceased individual made a jump where neither the main parachute nor the reserve was deployed.
Further details of the incident will be examined by the Norwegian Air Sports Federation, who will establish a commission to investigate the accident. They will begin their inquiries once the police have concluded their own investigations.
The Skydiving Club is still gathered at Oppdal and they are expected to remain there until July 17, which was originally the last day of the gathering.
The club is taking the incident hard, with members emphasizing the importance of unity and support for one another during this difficult time. It should be noted that despite its name, the Skydiving Club has no affiliation with the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), other than the fact it was founded by students from the university.
