Queen Margrethe presents 2026 award to Greenlandic editor-in-chief

Queen Margrethe has presented the 2026 Ebbe Munck Prize to Masaana Egede, editor-in-chief of Greenlandic media outlet Sermitsiaq, DR reports.
Egede was recognised for his journalism at Sermitsiaq, which DR describes as Greenland’s only independent media organisation. The outlet kept Greenland’s population informed in two languages during a period of geopolitical tensions over US President Donald Trump’s ambitions to take over Greenland.
The prize honours journalist, resistance fighter and court chief Ebbe Munck, who died in 1974. It was established the following year and is awarded to people working in fields that were of particular interest to Munck. Queen Margrethe is the prize’s patron.
