Tampere Christmas market adds a sauna this year

Tampere’s Christmas market will offer visitors a sauna from November 21, the day the market opens, Yle reports. The sauna will be open daily from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. and accommodate up to eight people at a time.

Tickets will be sold online from Tuesday morning. Sessions are mixed, and groups can also book the sauna privately. Heated changing rooms for women and men will have showers and clothes storage.

The sauna was previously presented in Vienna this spring as Tampere promoted the city in connection with the Eurovision Song Contest. The city also promotes Finnish sauna culture and markets itself as the world’s sauna capital.

The Christmas market has been held at Keskustori, Tampere’s central square, since 2008. More than half a million people visited last year, matching the high attendance recorded in 2024. Construction is under way, with the official opening scheduled for November 28. The market will remain open until December 22.
