New ferry for Svínoy and Fugloy expected in two years

The ferry Ritan is expected to be replaced on the route serving the islands of Svínoy and Fugloy in two years, if plans proceed as intended, KVF reports.

Jacob Vestergaard, the minister responsible, has asked the finance committee to prioritize the new ferry over a replacement for the ferry serving Kalsoy, as work continues on a tunnel plan for the island. The Kalsoy ferry had originally been scheduled to be built first.

Funding for the new ferry has been set aside this year and included in next year’s budget.
