Heavy rain targets central Finland as November begins

Sunday 1st November 2026 on 05:01 in Finland

Finland, rain, weather

Rain moving in from the west will bring the heaviest downpours to central Finland on Sunday, with nearly 20 millimetres possible in some places in 24 hours, Yle reports, citing meteorologist Elias Paakkanen.

The rain is expected to affect areas around Oulu and Koillismaa most. It will move southeast during the evening and night, shifting the focus of the rainfall elsewhere.

By Monday afternoon, the rain will have retreated to southern and eastern Finland. Skies are expected to clear in much of the north, while the sun may appear through the clouds along parts of the west coast. Rainy weather will continue in the south and east.

Snow showers are forecast to move across the north on Tuesday night, heading southeast. On Tuesday, skies are expected to clear widely in the west and north, while rain and sleet are forecast near the eastern border.
