Marius Borg Høiby was at a woman’s home in Frogner during the early hours of August 4. It’s reported that the incident involved physical assault, including choking and slapping, although the police have not confirmed these details. The woman is currently on medical leave and has received medical attention but has not been hospitalized, nor does she wish for a restraining order. Her lawyer stated that she is physically fine ten days after the incident.

Around noon on August 4, a friend of the woman contacted the police, leading to an investigation based on the woman’s allegations and evidence found in the apartment. Høiby was subsequently charged with bodily harm and vandalism after a knife was seized from the premises.

Police arrested Høiby at Jansløkka School, where he had agreed to meet them. He was released shortly thereafter. The charges against him include bodily harm—defined as any form of violence or physical affront— and vandalism, which involves damaging others’ property. The potential penalties for these offenses range from fines to prison sentences, depending on the severity.

In a personal statement, Høiby admitted to the allegations, expressing remorse over his actions while under the influence of alcohol and cocaine. He mentioned his ongoing struggles with mental health and substance abuse and stated his commitment to resuming treatment.

No relationship exists currently between Høiby and the victim, as confirmed by her legal representation. Although Høiby has made a public acknowledgment of guilt, he has yet to be formally interrogated by police. Future interviews with both the accused and the victim are planned.

Additionally, questions have arisen regarding the involvement of the Norwegian royal family, particularly about whether Princess Mette-Marit will provide testimony related to the incident.
