Cancer and its treatment can affect people’s relationship with their bodies and their self-image, KVF reports in a preview of the third episode of Aftaná, a series about life after cancer.
The effects vary. Some people experience changes in their appearance, while others notice differences in their energy or abilities. Others may see little physical change, even though the illness has been a serious ordeal and changed their outlook on life.
The programme explores how it feels to live in a body that may look or feel different after cancer, and how those changes can affect self-image and confidence in the body. Even changes that are not visible can influence how comfortable people feel in their own bodies.
It will also discuss how people can relate to a body that may no longer do what it once could, and how to manage changes and challenges that can follow illness and treatment. Guests include Aksel Haraldsen, Eir í Ólavsstovu, Maria Jørdal Niclasen and Suni Poulsen.
Aftaná – Lívið eftir krabbamein airs on Wednesdays at 16:05 and is available on KVF Ljóð.
