The delayed replacement of the factory aboard the pelagic fishing vessel Norðborg is now expected to cost 160 million kroner, Kringvarp Føroya (KVF) reports. The ship’s captain says it is expected to return to fishing in early December.

The work was due to be completed in August, but Norðborg remains in port. The refit is being carried out at the Mest shipyard, which won the contract in competition with foreign shipyards.

Along with replacing the factory, the work includes numerous other upgrades. The total cost was initially estimated at 150 million kroner.

“We hope to go fishing in December,” said Jón Rasmussen, captain of Norðborg.
