Contract negotiations involving the Faroese Association of Educators have paused while outstanding issues are addressed, the union’s chairwoman, Sanna á Løgmansbø, told KVF.
The union’s agreements with the Ministry of Finance and the Municipal Employers’ Association expired on 1 April, but no new deal has been reached. The parties have agreed to meet again soon.
Contract talks are also under way for the Faroese Teachers’ Association and the Faroese Nurses’ Association. The teachers’ agreement expired on 1 October last year, while the nurses’ agreement expired on 1 January this year.
Teachers’ Association chair Jákup Eli S. Olsen told KVF that talks are progressing. The association has met with the Ministry of Finance and agreed to meet again in about two weeks. Nurses’ Association chair Óluva í Gong said her union has arranged a meeting with the ministry for early November and that negotiations are progressing.
