Dimma’s new singer and drummer have fitted in so quickly that guitarist Ingó Geirdal called their arrival a “godsend,” mbl.is reports.

“The Dimma sound came together straight away. It was amazing. Ivan and Skúli both arrived like a godsend, and this could not have happened at a better time,” Ingó said of the band’s first rehearsal with singer Ivan Mendez and drummer Skúli Gíslason, who joined this summer.

The band has released two songs with its new lineup and plans to put out an album next year, no later than June, Ingó said.

Dimma has booked three concerts. The first took place in Selfoss on Friday. The other two are scheduled for Iðnó in Reykjavík on October 30 and Græni hatturinn in Akureyri on November 7.

“We’re very excited to introduce the new members to our fans,” Ingó said. Mendez has already learned more than 20 of the band’s lyrics by heart, he said, and would have no trouble performing the older material. Ingó also praised Gíslason, who plays in the cover band Babies, saying he learns songs quickly despite the group’s large catalogue.

Ingó said he and bassist Silli Geirdal were settling in well with the new members, who had encouraged the band to try new things. Dimma had always sought to change its songwriting and sound, he said, with each album differing from the one before. “We brothers are made to make music and create, not to live on past glories.”

Ingó is interviewed in more detail in Morgunblaðið’s Sunday edition.
