HUS, which is responsible for specialist healthcare in Uusimaa, will send adult patients’ letters primarily through digital services from next Monday, Yle reports.

The letters will be delivered through the Maisa system, Suomi.fi Messages or Oma Posti. Patients who have not started using any digital services will continue to receive paper letters.

The change does not apply to people under guardianship or with a confirmed power of attorney for guardianship, minors or customer invoices.

HUS says the decision is based mainly on environmental and cost considerations. It expects the number of paper letters to be cut in half, saving more than one million euros.
