Households can apply for an extra 5,000 kroner in energy aid

Households will be able to apply for an additional 5,000 kroner in energy support this year, bringing the total aid to 10,000 kroner, the Faroese government plans, according to KVF.

The application deadline will be November 25. Around 400 households received energy support in the first application round this year, and the government expects the same number to apply in the second round.

The additional payments will cost the public purse two million kroner. The money is available from a surplus in the 2026 allocation for family support, so no supplementary appropriation is needed, the government said.

The energy support scheme is due to expire at the end of the year and will not be extended.
