Daði Már regrets Jón Gnarr’s departure from party group
Finance Minister Daði Már Kristófersson says Viðreisn did not discuss Jón Gnarr’s departure from its parliamentary group at a meeting earlier Monday, but regrets losing him from the group, mbl.is reports.
“He is still in the party, and our cooperation has been very good, but we will miss him in the parliamentary group,” Daði Már said. He is also Viðreisn’s deputy leader.
Asked about the way forward, Daði Már said Jón was best placed to answer, but would always be welcome back. He said he had enjoyed working with Jón, who brought an unusual background and had achieved a great deal in his work.
Daði Már also said there was always room for improvement when asked whether he agreed with Jón’s criticism of former colleagues. “There is never perfection, and there are always things that can be improved. We will of course work on that,” he said.
The finance minister has just returned from Thailand, where he attended the International Monetary Fund’s annual meeting. He said there were “storm clouds over the global economy” and noted that Iceland had moderate and falling debt, balanced public finances and a reasonable growth outlook. “There is little we can say that does not make other finance ministers envious,” he added.
