Bera and Ölgerðin say they have no information that Ölgerðin has breached competition rules, mbl.is reports. Iceland’s Competition Authority searched the premises of Bera, the parent company of Ölgerðin Egils Skallagrímsson, as part of an investigation into alleged abuse of a dominant market position.
A statement from Bera says the investigation began after complaints from competitors. “Management has no information that any violations have taken place in the company’s operations,” it said.
Bera said Ölgerðin places strong emphasis on complying with competition rules. Training on competition issues is part of staff training and covers how large companies should conduct themselves in the market.
Ölgerðin and Bera said they would assist the Competition Authority with its investigation and hoped it would be completed as soon as possible.
