Three students held as Sigtuna school investigates aggravated sexual assault

Three male students in their late teens have been taken into custody after a police operation at Sigtunaskolan Humanistiska Läroverket, a boarding school in Sigtuna. SVT reports that prosecutors are investigating suspected aggravated unlawful coercion and aggravated sexual assault.

The police operation took place on Thursday afternoon. The Swedish Prosecution Authority described the incident as serious but declined to specify the suspected offences.

“An intensive investigation is now under way, including several interviews,” prosecutor Lisa Dos Santos said in a statement.

Interviews with the suspects are expected soon. The prosecutor must decide by Saturday whether to seek their detention.
