A teenager was tied up and left alone in Laugardalur, a part of Reykjavik, mbl.is reported on Friday, citing confirmation from Unnar Már Ástþórsson, a chief superintendent with the Capital Area Police. The case came to police in September.

The victim identified those involved, Ástþórsson said. He added that police sometimes receive videos of incidents like this after they have been shared on social media.

When cases involve teenagers, police officers go into schools to speak with students, he said. The young people involved were in middle school or their first year of upper-secondary school. Police have completed their investigation.

Vísir also reported a similar incident at the beginning of the week, citing information from police. In that case, a group of teenagers allegedly tied another teenager’s hands and feet, took the person to a home with which they had no connection, and left them by the front door. The group rang the doorbell and fled before the homeowner answered.

Ástþórsson said he was not aware of that incident and could not confirm any details.
