Electric rubbish truck crashes into yard on Argir street

A new electric rubbish truck belonging to Tórshavn Municipality rolled into a yard on Rosságøta in Argir, prompting a police investigation, KVF reported.

The truck had been collecting household waste when the incident happened. No one was injured, and the damage was limited to property, people in the neighbourhood told KVF.

It is not yet clear why the truck began rolling while its driver was collecting rubbish. Rosságøta is steep, and the truck, which weighs several tonnes, is believed to have travelled about 50 metres before breaking through a fence and coming to rest in a yard at the bottom of the street.
