About 500 Icelandic extras are taking part in filming for the third season of Netflix series The Four Seasons, one of three foreign film productions currently under way in Iceland, Morgunblaðið reports. True North, the company managing the productions in Iceland, confirmed the projects.

About 200 people are involved in the two-week shoot for The Four Seasons, which stars Tina Fey and Colman Domingo. Nine Icelandic actors also have roles, including Þorsteinn Bachmann.

According to Morgunblaðið, filming is taking place at Reykjavík landmarks and nearby locations, as well as Keflavík Airport. The Iceland visit is expected to feature across two episodes of the new season.

The other projects include a Danish film produced by Miso Film with Netflix involved in financing, and a third production also connected to Netflix. Filming for the third project has included locations near Fjallsárlón.

“The second half of the year has been good after a shortage in the first half,” True North managing director Leifur B. Dagfinnsson told Morgunblaðið. He said Iceland is becoming the world’s most expensive filming country and that production rebates are needed to help offset the cost.
