Valtonen says Finland’s Arctic expertise is in demand

Finland’s Arctic expertise is in demand in areas including the marine and defence industries, Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen said, according to Yle.

Valtonen attended a meeting of the foreign ministers of Arctic allied countries in New York on Monday. The ministers discussed the security of the Arctic region and ways to strengthen NATO’s defence and deterrence.

Valtonen said cooperation with Arctic allies strengthens Finland’s security.

In addition to Finland, NATO’s Arctic A7 group includes Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Iceland, Canada and the United States.
