Wanted man detained while carrying weapon

Police detained a man overnight who was wanted in police records and was carrying a weapon, mbl.is reported. He was held in a police cell.

Two people were arrested on suspicion of breaking windows and breaking into a car in the area covered by Police Station One, which serves Reykjavík’s Austurbær, city centre and Vesturbær districts, as well as Seltjarnarnes. Both were held in cells while the case was investigated.

Police also dealt with several drivers suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol and others suspected of traffic violations. A total of 62 cases were recorded in police systems between 5pm on Friday and 5am on Saturday. Three people spent the night in police detention.
