Escaped psychiatric patient suspected in Töölö stairwell shooting
Yle reports that a 21-year-old man who escaped from Niuvanniemi forensic psychiatric hospital in Kuopio is suspected of shooting a 16-year-old boy in a stairwell in Helsinki’s Töölö district last year, according to MTV.
The man remains at large. Police have warned people not to approach him because he may be unpredictable.
The man escaped during outdoor recreation. Niuvanniemi is a forensic psychiatric hospital, where he was undergoing a mental state examination, investigator and detective chief inspector Arto Elomaa told Iltalehti.
Iltalehti previously reported that the man was being held in custody on suspicion of a violent crime.
